Tony and Tina are the principals of Simply Ballroom, Jersey. Tony danced competitively in the 1980's and came back to teach ballroom dancing fourteen years ago. He is an Associate with both the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance, and the International Dance Teachers Association, where he has qualified in the Ballroom and Latin America
Tony and Tina are the principals of Simply Ballroom, Jersey. Tony danced competitively in the 1980's and came back to teach ballroom dancing fourteen years ago. He is an Associate with both the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance, and the International Dance Teachers Association, where he has qualified in the Ballroom and Latin American genre. He is currently qualifying as a Licentiate, to allow him to present teachers for Associate examinations.

We hold ballroom dancing classes in the island of Jersey throughout the year at all levels of competence, usually within school term time. We hold private lessons to help develop our dancers' technique when individual attention is more helpful.

Dedicated Pricipals, Teachers and assistants
All of our teachers and assistants at the dance school attend ballroom dancing training each month so that we all offer similar advice during individual support. We understand the importance of getting things right from the early stages of dancing. Our classes are taught in a relaxed, non threatening way, in a sympathetic, supportive, encouraging and humorous atmosphere.

The dance school offers dance classes for adults of all abilities. Our beginners ballroom dancing courses are suitable for all adults with sound health and reasonable mobility. They prepare our dancers to be able to dance, simply, around a dance floor, by the end of their course. Our beginners courses usually include preparation for more
The dance school offers dance classes for adults of all abilities. Our beginners ballroom dancing courses are suitable for all adults with sound health and reasonable mobility. They prepare our dancers to be able to dance, simply, around a dance floor, by the end of their course. Our beginners courses usually include preparation for more than one dance in that genre, and our more advanced classes tend to concentrate on a single dance for the entire course.

Our Mission
We aim to provide a sound basis for both Ballroom and Latin American dancing, in our dance classes for adults of all abilities. We are an inclusive school and encourage diversity in all forms. Our mantra is "Treasure the mobility you have". In order to support the dancers from our dance school, we hold monthly social dances at locations
We aim to provide a sound basis for both Ballroom and Latin American dancing, in our dance classes for adults of all abilities. We are an inclusive school and encourage diversity in all forms. In order to support the dancers from our dance school, we hold monthly social dances at locations around the island and formal (black tie optional) dances at St Helier Town Hall. Because of their popularity, all our dances are Ticket only.
Medal and Certificate awards
Present yourself for examination
Our dancers are now able - after an absence of 20 plus years, to practice and submit themselves for assessment in either the Ballroom or Latin American Genre, by an IDTA examiner, from the UK.
Our latest IDTA Dance Examinations In August 2024 gave us another 100% pass rate.
We are delighted to confirm that our students all passed their August Award Examinations, from Bronze to Gold which saw our dancers presenting for Latin American Gold awards. Our students all succeeded at Commended to Honours level, with our congratulations to everyone concerned.
Ballroom and Latin AMerican Awards - Bronze to Gold
Our next classes for medal preparation, covering both Ballroom and Latin American genre at all levels from Bronze to Gold Award, will take place from the end of July, on Fridays from 6.00pm onwards, at our Sion Studio. The Examination date for the awards will be October 2025.
Rosette, Stardance and Graded Awards for Primary School ages
Our teaching of Year 3 to Year 6 children is due to start in the new year. Lessons are planned for Saturday mornings at our Sion Studio. Rosette award classes are available to dancers who start before their 8th Birthday. Stardance Awards are for those dancers between 8 and 10, with Junior Social Dance Tests, available for age 10 upwards.
EXAMINATION AND AWARDS FAQS
Can anyone be submitted for assessment? Anyone who has completed our "New Improvers" courses covering those dances can join our Award Preparation classes.
